ORGANIC CHEMISTS FOCUSED ON CARBOHYDRATE SYNTHESIS

Miller Research Group - About Us

MILLER RESEARCH GROUP

We are a group of organic chemists and chemical biologists focused on carbohydrates.

We are interested in making chemical tools for glycobiology, carbohydrate-based biomaterials and nucleosides/tides.

Miller Research Group - Our Research

Our Research

Our research focuses on the chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis of sugars, including developing automated and flow-based technologies.

Example compound target classes: oligosaccharides, sugar nucleotides, glycosyl phosphates, nucleoside & nucleotide analogues and glycolipids.

OUR FACILITIES

We are based in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Keele University and are part of the Glycoscience Centre.

MILLER RESEARCH GROUP

The group’s research involves the chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis of a diverse range of molecular structures, themed under a common feature of carbohydrates.

This is undertaken to create new tools for chemical biology and for the exploration of non-native carbohydrate-containing motifs in medicinal chemistry.
We are also interested in the growing requirement of such molecules in bioprocesses, especially towards understanding polysaccharide structure-to-function relationships and exploring novel nucleic acid motifs.
